FAA Approves ASTM Remote ID Means of Compliance
In a step forward from remote identification the FAA sent the following note to ASTM. DSPA will be monitoring whether there will be a change in implementation date for manufacturers given this late acceptance.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is pleased to inform you that the Administrator accepts the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F3586-22, “Standard Practice for Remote ID Means of Compliance to Federal Aviation Administration Regulation 14 CFR Part 89”, with additions identified in notice of availability (NOA) as an acceptable means, but not the only means, of demonstrating compliance with the requirements for producing standard remote identification unmanned aircraft and remote identification broadcast modules.
A notification of availability (NOA) will be published to the Federal Register announcing acceptance of ASTM MOC following this communication. The effective acceptance date of this MOC will be on the day NOA is published in the Federal Register.
