Amy Wiegand of DroneUp Joins DSPA Board of Advisors
Drone Service Providers Alliance builds Board for sUAS Membership Organization
April 20, 2021 (Lakewood, CO) — Drone Service Providers Alliance (DSPA), a member-based association that advocates for reasonable FAA regulations in the Unmanned Aircraft (sUAS) industry, is accelerating its advisory board efforts. Amy Wiegand, DroneUp’s Marketing & Communications Director, has agreed to join the Board of Advisors.
Amy Wiegand is a sUAS pioneer, having started exploring sUAS initiatives in 2013 while running operations and program development at a regional FBO and flight school. There Wiegand became the first woman in Virginia to develop an FAA sUAS Part 107 training program which assisted in efforts for the military and local and state emergency management teams. Since that time, Wiegand took a role at DroneUp as the third employee and the first woman hired by the then start-up.
“Wiegand has contributed to the growth of DroneUp from its inception,” explained CEO Kenji Sugahara. “She put DroneUp on the map through strategic marketing and PR. And as an aviator herself, she is a manned and unmanned safety advocate, which aligns with our mission. We look forward to her participation on the DSPA Board.”
Wiegand stated, “I’m thrilled to be a part of this educationally-driven organization and to contribute to its growth. Vic is a talented photographer, drone pilot, and a wealth of knowledge – a mentor of mine and many. Kenji is a highly regarded legal expert and driver for our industry. I’m honored to join the Board and participate.”
